Employability Skills Session
As 2026 begins, the Engineering Academy continues to prepare the next generation of engineering leaders in Johannesburg. Learners kicked the year off by participating in interactive workshops, learning about goal setting, effective study strategies, critical thinking, teamwork, and time management. Learners also had the opportunity to practice career skills through mock interviews, CV and portfolio building, and professional communication exercises. Under diligent guidance from our GE Vernova volunteers, learners were better able to connect the skills they learned with the industry's expectations, showing them how to make the most of opportunities that come their way. Through this session, learners gained confidence in growing their Employability Skills and the ways they can use these skills in their careers.
Engineering Academy Parents' Meeting
Learners' families also engaged with the Engineering Academy, joining a meeting to hear about what their children have learned, the milestones they've reached, and the successes they've achieved over the course of the program. Parental support and engagement is crucial to helping young people feel confident in their choices. As the cohort enters its final year, we are confident that they will continue to build on these successes and graduate well-equipped to pursue engineering education and careers!
