Johannesburg: Camp and Academy Updates

May 30, 2025

The Johannesburg Next Engineers team celebrates another successful year of recruitment for Engineering Camp!

As we await with great anticipation the start of the Engineering Camp, the Team is working towards collecting confirmations of the 100 selected learners who will participate in the Camp. It was wonderful to see learners submitting applications in great numbers, to explore such an excellent opportunity.

We are looking forward to welcoming our new Campers this year in the 2nd week of July and like the previous years we are sure it will be an epic adventure.

Johannesburg Engineering Academy Cohort 3 Learners will be visiting GE Kusile Power Plant and Airlink Aviation.

During the upcoming June/July vacation session, Engineering Academy Cohort 3 (Grade 11 learners) will be exploring the GE Kusile Power Plant and Airlink Aviation in order to learn more about what engineers do in real life.

The learners can look forward to spending time with the GE Engineers at Kusile and have the opportunity to ask them questions about their field of work. At Airlink, they will spend time with flight attendants and even get to test some of the in-flight equipment that they use to carry out their work. In both industries, learners will be able to see the many important contributions engineers have made that improve people's lives, as well as how they might make similar contributions in the future.

Many thanks to GE South Africa and Airlink for providing such an opportunity to our Johannesburg learners and we hope this excursion will be of great benefit to the learners.
