Cohort 3 Final Presentations

In March, Johannesburg Engineering Academy learners were excited to present their ideas, design processes and insights learned throughout the program through their final presentations. Parents, GE Vernova Volunteers, WITS representatives, and other guests attended the presentations to support and celebrate the learners’ journey.

The event was a great success and a proud moment for everyone involved. Well done to all the learners for the hard work, commitment, and growth they showed throughout the program.

Next Engineers Johannesburg keeps its momentum going by conducting the second round of school visits as part of Engineering Discovery, continuing its mission of inspiring learners to explore opportunities in the engineering field. The follow-up visits are aimed at strengthening the connection between learners and the world of engineering through interactive sessions, practical demonstrations, and career exploration.

During the visits, facilitators from Protec engaged learners in discussions about different engineering disciplines, study pathways, and the importance of mathematics and science in building successful careers. Learners also had the opportunity to ask questions and gain insight into the daily work of engineers in various industries.

The second visits focused on reinforcing concepts introduced in the first round while motivating learners to remain committed to their academic goals. Schools have welcomed the return of the program, with educators highlighting the positive impact Discovery has had on learner participation and interest in STEM-related subjects.

Program coordinators expressed excitement about reconnecting with schools and seeing learners show increased enthusiasm and confidence. They noted that the continuation of the visits reflects the program's commitment to developing future engineers and empowering young people with knowledge about career opportunities available in the engineering sector.

As the program continues across different schools, Engineering Discovery remains dedicated to creating meaningful learning experiences that encourage innovation, problem-solving, and academic excellence among learners.
